Volunteers

The utilization of volunteers is the backbone of the PTO. Participation in the activities of your choice is highly encouraged and enriches the school environment. Volunteering for activities is a great way to meet other families from our School. Please fill out the Volunteer Activity Form and let us know where we can best utilize your talents.

Each member of the PTO Board is elected by a majority vote of PTO members. The PTO Board has the responsibility to plan and coordinate those events sponsored by the PTO during the school year and to receive approval for said events before undertaking any activity in the organization’s name. All board members must have a good working relationship with the school administrator, the school administrative staff, and other board members. The duties and responsibilities of each PTO Board position are listed below.

PRESIDENT – Oversees activities of the PTO. Must be available to meet with school administrator on an as needed basis to assure open communications exist between the PTO and School Administration. Must receive approval for all PTO activities by the school Administrator before implementation. Coordinates fund raising activities on behalf of the School and PTO. Ensures information regarding PTO is submitted to the school newsletter. Coordinates PTO meetings, calendar, and activities with School Administrator.

VICE PRESIDENT – Needs to be able to assume President’s responsibilities if elected president is unable to complete term. Works closely with president to ensure smooth running of PTO. In charge of all Special and Standing Committees authorized by Executive Board and perform such other duties as the President and Executive Board shall designate.

SECRETARY – Handles all correspondence associated with PTO. Takes minutes at board meetings, writes minutes, and distributes copies of minutes to all board members and board administration. Maintains various files as necessary relating to the PTO.

TREASURER – Responsible for all aspects of PTO’s finances. Maintains bank account activity accurately and in a timely manner. Works with Parish office to make payments and deposits concerning the PTO.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR – Works closely with the School Administrator to ascertain need for parent volunteers in various capacities at the school. Maintains volunteer activity sheets and uses such sheets to contact parents or guardians in order to obtain volunteers. Coordinates parent/guardian volunteers as needed for all PTO activities. Compiles the school directory.
