Dear Friends,

Welcome to St. William of York Catholic School! As the new principal it is an honor and a privilege to take the helm of such a wonderful Catholic school. This summer I spoke at some of the Masses to share my vision of Catholic education. Recalling Jesus’ definition of the “greatest Commandment”, He said that we are called to love the Lord God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. If God wants the whole person, then it is certainly the mission of Catholic education to form the whole person: heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Heart: this is where virtue begins! It is where kids learn to live not for themselves but for Him Who died and rose for them.

Soul: we teach kids how to pray and how to live the fullness of Christian life through the Sacraments.

Mind: this is where faith begins and where we are called to provide a rigorous, competitive academic program.

Strength: we provide a well balanced athletic program during and after the school day and stick to an authentic spirit of Christian competitiveness.

I also reminded folks that Catholic schools are not intended to replace parents as primary educators of their children. Rather, we are here to support and bolster your awesome task of getting your kids to Heaven, especially when the hearts, souls, minds, and strength of children are so under siege from our secular society.

Lastly I asked folks to do three things:

  1. Pray for our school!
  2. Spread the word about our school! You are indeed our best advertisement!
  3. Come and learn more about us! We are still accepting applications through eighth grade.

Thanks for listening and may God bless you and your family!

In the Lord,

Frank Nicely
